“ A poor surgeon hurts 1 person at a time. A poor teacher hurts 130.

Turn it up!!!!! New teachers learning and inspiring each other is the only way to move the dinosaurs out and re-fertilize the experience of learning.
I thought about my new 8th graders when I read all of your quotes, and realize a lot of truth in them. Except in my case, this quote would have to change from 130 to 180. I teach a lot more class periods this semester - 6 back-to-back with 30 students each. It has been a lot of fun so far. But with the numbers I'm finding it hard to give some of the assignments that I'd like to give, ones that would measure a lot of higher level thinking skills. Grading 180 papers is a handful! And when it is 180 papers full of short answer essay questions, or something of that type that opens the door for all students to write different things, grading takes a lot of my time.
