“ I had a terrible education. I attended a school for emotionally disturbed teachers.

  1. Ha ha!! I can totally relate to that! I was just sharing with my cooperative teacher about that yesterday. My first day of World History in high school - the teacher walked in and said, "I don't want to be teaching this class but my contract says I have to if the school wants me to. So here I am." He then gave us a reading assignment and xeroxed work sheets then went and sat in his office located off of the classroom for the rest of the period. Needless to say, our tests were a group effort all year long. Another teacher I had, lanugage arts I think, left school in November and never came back after having a nervous breakdown during a class. Yet another - my US History teacher had us do a family tree near the beginning of October. After I turned in my assignment, she became very rude and hostile toward me and another girl in the classroom. I couldn't figure it out since I had a tendency to be more of a "teacher's pet" kind of student. I even had to challenge her on my grades a few times and usually won. The following year it all made sense - she left her husband, two adolescent sons, her job, and everything else to move to Montana to join the Claire Prophet militia. Turns out she was an anti-semite and when she found out my friend and I had Jewish backgrounds, she hated us. Thankfully I had more wonderful teachers than lousy ones but sometimes I think Woody Allen tends to be closer to the truth than we would all like to believe. :+)
